Give it up sweetie.
I know what you’re thinking
but, your goose is cooked.
This haiku was inspired by the writing prompt at Magpie Tales and is also linked to The Poetry Pantry at Poets United. And yes, I know they're actually ducks, but I can't resist a good (or bad) pun.
Wonderful haiku .. and SO much more!
ReplyDeleteYou are not the only one who puns. I marvel at how many idioms of this sort crowd my head and are instantly understood - blows my mind, yes?
ReplyDeleteWhat is even better, everyone seems to have different interests and it is now easy to find an idiom and what it means by going online. Going online - another coinage.
I use idioms in my poetry often.
Giggle...perfect...
ReplyDeletehahaha goose looks yummy to the cat
ReplyDeleteBut you are scaring Pat
My goose is just right
So don't cook it tonight
Other Mary,
ReplyDeleteYou have produced a perfect Haiku!!!
Cooked goose!!
Eileen
Helen - heehee, thanks
ReplyDeleteChristopher - yes, word play is such fun...and the computer age makes it so much easier!
Tess - Thank you, and thanks for the prompt!
Pat - silly goose, but thanks for stopping by!
Eileen - thank you!
I like "give it up", and "sweetie" in a food poem, and the comma after "but" that gives a conversational-feeling pause.
ReplyDelete:-)
