The first time
I heard a recording
of my voice,
without the deeper,
lower frequency vibrations
enhanced by traveling
through bone,
I was so upset I didn’t talk
for two days.
Imagine the shock
when I first heard myself sing.
So much for the,
“become a rock star”
career path.

so much truth. so so much truth. Lolol. Does everyone hate their own voice or is it just us
ReplyDeleteI'm not sure Michael. Glad you got a chuckle though.
DeleteIt's funny how strange and almost surreal our own voices sound to us when we actually here them recorded, and not from the "inside" as we are used to. Sorry about your singing aspirations being side-lined, but there's always the writing, the humor & the one-liners my friend!
ReplyDeleteHahaha - thank you my friend! :o)
DeleteI hate hearing myself on recordings... my voice sounds so small and childlike... which to me, doesn't sound like me at all!
ReplyDeleteI sound...dorky. :o(
Deleteha hah nicely done, only a few people have the guts to laugh at oneself and in my opinion they are very brave!
ReplyDeleteThank you Vandana. You know, those willing to laugh at themselves will never cease to be amused. That's a paraphrase from someone I can't remember.
Delete*smiles* at your honesty! LOL
ReplyDeleteGlad yoou got a chuckle Jinksy.
Deletelol I hate hearing mine too, but what the heck at my zoo
ReplyDelete:o)
DeleteIf you really wanted to be a singer- sorry. I remember not recognizing my voice as mine the first time I heard it. Strange.
ReplyDeleteLol, thanks Mary.
DeleteQuite entertaining and rather wise...
ReplyDeleteThank you Berowne.
DeleteNice 'take'. We're so often not quite what we think we are, yet rarely do those who know us, share our disappointments.
ReplyDeleteThat is very true S. Czar. Good point.
ReplyDeleteBut your rock star still lives within , friend !
ReplyDeleteThank you my friend.
DeleteOh I too, know that feeling all so well!
ReplyDeleteIt would be a lot worse it I sang! lol
ReplyDeleteMy first effort!
Nice to meet you ~ Eddie
Duet doo-wop, Eddie? lol
DeleteI think we would sing a very nice duet - is there any space left on the tape . . . and your surname I see is Bach . . . I love J S Bach. . . . any relation? lol
DeleteYes! So nice that you like Uncle Johann! ;-)
DeleteDou you hear Bach often or Offenbach?
Deletesorry . . . . . could not resist!
Just one of my amazing music jokes like:
Q. What did Mozart do as soon as her die?
A. Started de-composing!
Are you not entering this week?
