On Time

I have this skein of time
to knit into a
life unraveling
faster and
faster each year
each season
each day
tangled at my feet

This if for Karin's challenge to write about some aspect of time, at the Imaginary Garden

  1. The life a skein of yarn... what a perfect metaphor.. and what should we do of not making the perfect sweater.. hope it is never tangled.

  2. This is great and scary. Where does the time go?

  3. Hey Mary--wonderful and creative image--calling up the threads of fate and all the very tangles and snips and yarns we spin. Thanks for playing along with the prompt and for cool poem. k.

  4. Tangled at my feet - you described time's paradox with a lovely metaphor ~

  5. Of me

    And I kick the tangles
    Of my life
    As if to expose
    Those moments that defined
    Me
    And placed me in
    Time
Had I been serious in my intent
I would step to the side
    So as to find
    The start of things
    Then pick it up
    To bring
    It closer for inspection
    Knit it into a pattern
    For all to see
    At least that little stretch
    Of me

  8. We keep stitching and unraveling don't we?

  9. Once you pull on the end, it all falls apart, too. But that just gives us a chance to do it over, I suppose. Nicely conceived and executed, Mary, even without the fruit flies. ;_)
