After drooping heat,

grey autumn rain chills into

winter’s mocking snow

which settles on bud and shoot.

That’s April in Wisconsin.

in my ear

with

bright breath

sweet

as death

telling me

the end is near

Is it any wonder

I fall under

her spell?
