Mag #41

The patina of age
Cannot hide the fact that
The eleventh hour
Has come
Waiting
Has not served us well
Poised
Here on the edge
Of too late
We melt
We burn
While
Bleak old men scurry through dark
Musty corridors
Trailing papers in their
Wake
As the clock
Strikes

  1. The eleventh hour is oh so telling! When the clock strikes, one must listen.

  2. "Poised
    Here on the edge
Of too late" -- beautifully said. I've been there.

  3. 'Waiting
Has not served us well' - so often sadly true.

  4. Lovely use of words. I see this scene in my mind:
"Bleak old men scurry through dark
    Musty corridors
    Trailing papers in their
    Wake"

  13. Well, you had me at "patina", one of my favorite words. I love "Bleak old men scurry through dark
musty corridors trailing papers in their wake". Beautiful.

  14. Thank you Willow. Isn't it funny how just the sound of a word, or the feel of it in one's mouth can bring a pleasurable sensation? I recently was reminded that I enjoy the word 'erstwhile' in that way. Love these prompts, by the way.
