The patina of age
Cannot hide the fact that
The eleventh hour
Has come
Waiting
Has not served us well
Poised
Here on the edge
Of too late
We melt
We burn
Cannot hide the fact that
The eleventh hour
Has come
Waiting
Has not served us well
Poised
Here on the edge
Of too late
We melt
We burn
While
Bleak old men scurry through dark
Musty corridors
Trailing papers in their
Wake
As the clock
Strikes
Bleak old men scurry through dark
Musty corridors
Trailing papers in their
Wake
As the clock
Strikes
The eleventh hour is oh so telling! When the clock strikes, one must listen.

"Poised
ReplyDeleteHere on the edge

'Waiting

A 'telling' Magpie Tale ....!
ReplyDeleteLovely use of words. I see this scene in my mind:
ReplyDelete"Bleak old men scurry through dark
Musty corridors
Trailing papers in their
Wake"
The end is nigh, a lot of happenings and the waiting's unbearable!

ReplyDeletemusty corridors trailing papers in their wake". Beautiful.
Thank you Willow. Isn't it funny how just the sound of a word, or the feel of it in one's mouth can bring a pleasurable sensation? I recently was reminded that I enjoy the word 'erstwhile' in that way. Love these prompts, by the way.
ReplyDeleteSo many beautiful phrases..and the 11th hour..strikes a bit of fear!!
