On Why You May Want to Reconsider Growing Up

CAUTION!
As you age you may lose:
-joy from licking the sugar-dust off a stick of gum
-soles that can walk on gravel
-wishes from dandelion seeds
-your invisible friends
-magic
-the effects of fairy dust
-the ability to taste your dreams
                …or to even remember them.

This is for G-man at FF55.  Click on the link and check it out.

  2. I miss being able to walk on gravel in my bare feet. But I remember. I remember it was easy. I remember dandelion necklaces and Teaberry gum and making bracelets with the gum wrappers. I remember having dreams I thought would come true.

    It's always worth coming here.

  5. I seem to have lost most of these quite a while ago, except I can often remember my dreams. Very sweet poem!

  6. Poetry keeps us in that young mind. Love your beautiful list of gems from childhood, especially the sugar dust on gum.

  8. I think we all need to keep the mind of children, never mind our physical age! Smiles.

  10. Hopefully we never completely loose our sense of wonder--like looking at a star-filled sky on a crystal-clear winter night, watching a sunset paint the clouds in pink and purple, and knowing in our heart of hearts that Santa exists in all of us. Here's to the best things in life that can't be seen, only felt!! May we stay forever young!
