Mother
She was womb
I was tomb
where her identity
lay down to die
Check out Magpie Tales where Tess Kincaid provies a weekly writing prompt. This one was in color, but I felt B&W was more appropriate for my bleak lines.
dang --- dang.... those last couple lines... either really becoming the tomb as she passed in childbirth or in her just losing her identity to make yours or...
A bit bleak, but all start and end the same
ReplyDeleteYes, this one is bleak. Not biographical though. :o)

strong piece mary
Thanks Brian. I actually meant the second...the way a woman can lose her identity when she gains the role of mother, but I like that it's ambiguous.
DeleteIt was like a haiku and I enjoyed your clever take on this. Bravo Mary!
ReplyDeleteThanks Bekkie!
DeleteHeartbreaking.
ReplyDeleteAnd not at all biographical.
DeleteI also thought it was sad she was nameless...I almost posted this photo in black and white...I'm glad you did...
