Thanks Fred. And, I actually wasn't even (or just) thinking of bad comments, though that's the direction I went with the pic. I was thinking also of some of the random stuff people say, little details that end up sticking in my mind instead of the main point of their comments.
Yea...I'm not through with it, I think, but I'm trying to do the poem a day thing for the month. Also, I think the picture with it was not a good choice. Thanks for reading and responding.
Oh, Mary I didn't mean that the poem couldn't stand by itself...just that the feeling that hit me when I read it was "frustrated" of course this is your poem and you can rewrite it if you want but I don't think you need too.
A light poem that bounces along, but for me it holds a vital message for adults dealing with kids. The chance remark from a significant adult, forgotten even before its echo has died, can be pivotal in the formation of a child's self image
Really like this line, a throw away phrase could linger on for ages in the mind of another- very neat. Thanks

Deletethis has a kind of frustrated feel...I like it and at the same time it is uncomfortable in a way.

ReplyDeleteYes, you're right Stafford. For bad and for good too. Sometimes a small kindness can make all the difference.
DeleteThis was a great mind-tickler, I instantly came up with a cupful of examples.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rain. I'm glad this resonated with you.
