I carry secrets
like stones in my pockets
They click together, heavy,
as I move forward.
One day
I will take my
secret stones,
smooth and worn,
and throw them
in a deep well,
never to be
found.
And when I look down
I will see one sparkling,
gem among the stones.

Good question - thank you Cloudia!
DeleteDoes that mean you have one HUGE doozie of a secret?
ReplyDeleteEven if you do, your story/poem was beautiful and deep.
Loved your enigmatic 55 Mary Bach
Thanks for playing, thanks for always being so creative
Have a Kick Ass Week End
Truth is I got the idea from a book I'm reading called "The Blook Spilt" by Asa Larson. I wondered if I should have included it in my little blurb after the verse.
DeleteThis is lovely, Mary, and we all carry secrets...I like the sparkling ones best!

Thanks Kay. Hopefully everyone has a few little gems like they can peek at now and again. :o)
DeleteI like this very much. Wonderful idea to keep the secrets hidden away but to keep the BEST one closer to view!
ReplyDeleteExactly! Thanks Mary.
DeleteI sure like this idea. Guess we all carry some secrets. Nice to throw them in a well and hope a gem stands out.
ReplyDeleteDon't know if it's good or bad to have a diamond among the stones--does it console with its beauty, or just emphasize how ugly the rocks are? Love the ripples and shadows here, Mary.
ReplyDeleteChuck them down a well, that would be swell. But don't fall in. Lassie may not be around to help you out lol
ReplyDeleteOh those secret stones. I have carried many in my days. I love the idea of turning them into diamonds....I suppose that is what healing does....great write!!
ReplyDeleteA lovely poem. I particularly like the first stanza!
