When faced with a mirror
Do you like what it reflects?
What is your first reflex?
Do you act on it?
Do you stare
critically,
appreciatively,
Do you duck away?
Or do you jump right through,
à la Alice?
Upon reflection
does your reflection
reveal more than you like,
or less?
Ooh, I know the answer to that last question.
ReplyDeleteFascinating photo you found on wiki, and your poem suits it perfectly. "Upon reflection, does your reflection...?" Wonderful wording.

Thank you Kay. :o)
DeleteI'd like the Alice option.
ReplyDelete:)
Lol, me too.
Deletegood questions; that image is tres surreal; have a nice weekend
ReplyDeletemuch love...
Thanks Gillena, you too!
DeleteI like the questions Mary ~ I think our reflection reveals more than we care to see ~
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating in Real Toads challenge ~ Happy weekend ~
Thank you Grace. I think I mis-attributed the challenge though.
DeleteYou did, but I will be happy to take credit for such a nice one like this :) ha I did take one of the photos…
Deletei think our reflection in a mirror reveals far
ReplyDeleteless than what we are...
Me too, but sometimes we give that image too much importance.
DeleteA reaction of a mirror maybe tells us even more than the image itself?
ReplyDeleteAnd that's possible too... :o)
DeleteThis is fabulous! Great photo prompt, too!

First of all I love the photo....it only adds to your excellent piece...the girl seems to hide from her own reflection. We often to that...sometimes the truth in the mirror is just too hard to face. Thankfully there are other times the mirror reflects our celebration of life.
ReplyDeleteThank you Susie. :o)
DeleteIt's very hard to really look at yourself.
ReplyDeleteYou're right.
DeleteI love the questions, this is an excellent piece. :)
ReplyDeleteI look to shave, that count?
ReplyDeleteHa - perfect!
DeleteI think the mirror only projects a small window of who we are! I love your poem and the photo is perfect~
ReplyDelete:o) Yes, only the outside. Thanks.
Deletelove the lines...it would be better if mirror reflected nothing more or nothing less..but mirror knows lots of tricks...
ReplyDeleteYes, tricksy mirrors... ;-)
DeleteThat's a spooky image. The mirror used to be a better friend. Yes, back when I would stare and stare and try to figure me out. Mirrors are like cameras, seldom tell a lie. Evocative poem!
ReplyDeleteYvonne, maybe that's why our eyesight also gets worse as we age, lol. Thank you.
DeleteNot always! Hehehe, especially this early in the morning. I am just in awe of that photo, and your words are very enlightening.
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen. :o)
DeleteI would jump through as mirrors to me are portals to another world.
ReplyDeleteSounds fun, doesn't it?
DeleteI like the way the poem challenges me to answer the questions, plus a cool shout out to Alice. Nice!
ReplyDeleteI stare appreciatively at the photos of a much younger me (and remember when I used to say I was fat.. ha ha) Oh, for such a waste line now. I am one who prefers to be taking the photos, not in them.
ReplyDeletegood find with the image, and well suited to the prompt. btw, the last two posts (this and the cat post) both have spam on them... hate that. ~
ReplyDeleteThanks Michael. I just got rid of them. Grrrrrrr.
