Another day, another sunrise, another miracle
scattered along the path.
Ho hum.
I count them off with tally marks
otherwise I would lose track
Smooth stones
each one makes ripples in the pool
as I drop them
plunk
plunk
plunk
the circles spread apart
farther and farther
Shadows meet and bow and dance

Read my mind: the first thing I think of when I see rocks like those is "How far can I toss these?"

ReplyDeleteThis is a very incisive look at how tuned out we get, yet it seems to pivot midway to the exact opposite in a zennish sort of way, ending in a place where shadows are real. I like it a lot.
ReplyDeletei love the image of dropping stones and their ripples as a metaphor for spreading joy and love maybe beyond our own circles...who knows where the ripples end..they can go far.. very nice..
ReplyDeleteHedgewitch - Thanks...yes, I wondered if the shift was too abrupt. Glad you like it!
ReplyDeleteClaudia - Thank you! Spreading the good stuff is what it's all about!
