How exciting – my first Willow Manor Ball! Thank you for everything Tess; you are the perfect host.
I carefully chose my dress
from the tree where they grow
behind the house.
The gloves I knit of
licorice laces.
As music saturates me
the elephant in the room
sits at my side on the couch,
imploring me with absinthe eyes.
How could I possibly say no?
At first I couldn't find a thing to wear
until I remembered the dress tree out back:
It was a tough decision, but in the end I chose this black and white number...
...and elephants of course.
And the mask I will be wearing looks like this:
Of course to go with elephants I must have the simple elegance of pearls:
Finally, to complete the ensemble, I've opted for these tied up heels...
...so there won't be any lost shoe incidents.
I promised to save the last dance for Babar, but could I
have THIS dance with you? Please won't you join me at the ball?
Are you bringing the elephants? You look absolutely charming. Hope we meet up in the throng. The elephants would be a good attention getting device and I could for sure find you.
ReplyDeleteIt is my first ball too and I am so excited.
Hi Jacqui - I am bringing the elephants, they do love to dance so! Thanks, I'm really excited too! I'll stop by and to see what you're wearing and then look for you at the ball! :o)
ReplyDeleteWell its all my first ball so its exciting for me ~ I like the pearls, perfect with your dress ~
ReplyDeleteThank you Heaven ~ it's very exciting isn't it?
DeleteOh no! I completely forgot about the Dress Tree!
ReplyDeleteAnd here I went and ordered on line.........
*dang*
Tell me, is it true.....are elephants *really* light on their feet? ;)
Have a wonderful Ball!
lol, the elephants are as light as fairy dust! You have a wonderful ball too - I'll look for you there.
DeleteClassy! I see you have command of things.... ;)
ReplyDeleteOh, I guess we'll see! And thanks :o)
Deletesmiles...i am rather fond of that mask...
ReplyDeleteand elephants...ha, i imagine you will make a grand entrance...
Thanks Brian...that mask is a favorite of mine as well.
DeleteWow you trained the elephants well
ReplyDeleteSure the ball will be swell.
Why don't you come and bring the cat,
Deleteyou know this ball is where it's at!
I don't suppose the elephants will mind that I'm all left feet, will they?
ReplyDeleteThey might get a bit of of sorts, but I don't mind at all. Why don't you dance with me instead?
DeleteAsking advice on colour was a good idea I found. Let's hope your gorgeous shoes hang on. Altough they look like sitting down shoes to me :-)
ReplyDeleteHeehee, good thing it's a cyber ball, so they are only on my cyber feet! ;-)
DeleteYou will be the star of the show, I am sure, Mary. I checked out the others Willow says she has invited, and none of them can match you, with your elephants and pearls.
ReplyDeleteK
Awww thanks Kay. It is hard to beat an elephant for making an entrance!
DeleteElegance at its best. The elephants are a big hit but I was a little concerned when placido stroked one and he almost caught the poor man up with his trunk!
ReplyDeleteAs for the shoes - what size do you take because I don't think you like them really...............
Hahaha - we'll have to get together and talk about a show swap Bee! And glad Placido wasn't swept of his feet by the elephant.
DeleteAnd here I thought my dress would steal the show ~~ wrong!! Elephants dancing, how whimsical, how wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOh Helen, your dress did steal the show! You were RIGHT!
DeleteDarling! I almost wore your exact shoes...but opted for the woolly socks, instead. Your elephants added a wonderful exoticness to the ball...but they snorted all the absinthe from the bar!
ReplyDeleteEr...sorry about the absinthe. How can I make it up to you? And I think I'll swap you these shoes for your woolly socks next year - oh, my poor feet! But what a fabulous ball! Thanks ever so much Tess!
DeleteBy the way, you have exquisite taste!
Deletelove the shoes. Say hello to Colette
ReplyDeleteColette looks lovely. I think she is enjoying herself immensely!
DeleteThanks! Love yours too!
ReplyDeleteIf I wear the kilt as at last year's Willow Ball will you please dance the "Gay Gordons" with me, Mary?
ReplyDeleteI havem't danced The Gay Gordons for years. I wonder if I can still remember how to!
DeleteI will if you show my how! I've no idea what that is! :o)
DeleteAn elegant lady with elephants... Sounds interesting... See you there!..
ReplyDeleteJJRod'z
Thank you JJ, I'll be watching for you. :o)
DeleteI must plant one of those trees in my back yard. You win the prize of unique and original!
ReplyDeleteHeehee, thanks Margaret. I'll send you some seeds!
DeletePhew. For the longest time, I thought I was imagining the elephants. It almost convinced me to lay off the absinthe -- actually, I didn't have a choice, because someone had drunk it all.
ReplyDeleteAs long as the elephants aren't pink your just fine Sandra! lol
DeleteOh I must have a dress tree as delightful as yours, I just have to! I should have worn your choice in shoes, as yes I lost mine just as I was warned again. I don't believe I saw you on the dance floor but I know those pearls! Perhaps next year we can share a glass of wine and catch up in the latest of gossip!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen, I'd love to gossip over wine with you. lol, ever since Cindy I make an effort to keep track of my shoes. Even though I made it to the ball I spend so much time trying to keep the elephants out of the absinthe (and then from dancing on the tables) that I didn't get to circulate much. Next year for sure! Oh, and I'll send you some dress tree seeds so you can plant your own!
DeleteThose are killer heels! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, they certainly aren't dancin' shoes! lol
DeleteLovely dress it was a pleasure to meet you at the ball!
ReplyDeleteThank you Yoli, the pleasure was all mine!
