Unincorporated

Living in the middle of nowhere
you get more cows than people
for neighbors.

A church, a bar
and a few scattered houses –
in Wisconsin that’s all you need
to make a town.

That, and the folks that fill it.
Though, they fill the bar more than the church,
if truth be told.

This is for the warm-hearted G-man's FF55 where some great folks link their 55 word tributes.  Check it out!

    1. Ha ha, yup that's about right G-man. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for the chance to share. Oh, and here's a disclaimer on the picture, it's taken by me with my fancy new camera (which I resolve to learn to use) not painted by me.

  3. I had a friend who ranched and he loved working with cows because they wanted food, water, decent treatment and to be left alone. No games.

I'm originally from Chicago and I used to drive through Wisconsin a lot, so I know this is so true.

    1. Yes, cows are pretty straightforward, although I don't have any of my own, lol. Thanks for visiting, and following! :o)

  6. I'm an introvert and would much rather have cows than people for neighbors. Cows tend to mind their own business.

    1. Ah, and I think they would get along with your bunnies too! Thanks for reading.

  7. I remember those bars, from back when I lived in Wisconsin. They were a lot of fun from the place on the capital square that had Guinness on tap to the place in Riley that would feed you possum for playing fiddle or spoons.

  8. So you work for the local Chamber of Commerce, do you? Ha! Great 55 and chilling picture.

(When I clicked on your name at comments at my blog it took me to la-la land saying I was not authorized to view the page. I went to G's to find you in the list. The same thing was reported to me recently, and I have no clues as to a fix.)

    1. Oh, sorry about the trouble getting here Lydia... thanks for persevering. I'll see if I can figure something out. I've had trouble getting to a few blogs too lately, though not yours.
And thanks, I think I should send the C of C a bill for promotion, heehee. Thanks for the idea!

  9. Excellent musings, there. I would tend towards the bar, while my dearest would be church-bound.

  10. Small towns sure love their bars and chatter, they will yap about whoever pretending it`s an important matter.

  11. Hey Pat - it IS important!!! Really! lol

  12. Ah, Mary, Mary....beware of any town that has more churches than bars, because I've been through those as well, and I'd prefer a cow to some that hang out in the vestibules and anterooms of said holy houses..

Hope you have a nice weekend and continue to enchant us on Friday.

    1. Lol, we've to to keep the balance! I'll remember your advice Yvonne, and thank you so much for your sweet comment. I hope to 'see' you for many more Fridays to come!

  13. Ditto Yvonne's reply. I am also weary of any town that has a church on every corner, but not one of them is Roman Catholic, who's congregation is not in the least bit guilt-ridden of attending mass on Sunday after a relaxing Saturday night at the bar. Fundamentalists scare the cow shit out of me...

    1. (Yea, fundamentalists tend to be more mental than fun). At least that'll make good fertilizer for all those fields! lol
