Step out my dear and don’t look back
adventures gather ’round the bend,
and they’ll make up for what we lack.
Step out my dear and don’t look back
with sturdy shoes and rain-proof pack,
a map, a compass and a friend.
Step out my dear and don’t look back
adventures gather ‘round the bend.
Over at dVerse Poets'
Pub we have been asked to write "poetics; of the road" in eight
lines. I've chosen the eight line form called Triolet, which is defined
as a stanza poem of eight lines where the rhyme scheme is ABaAabAB, and
often in iambic tetrameter: the first, fourth and seventh lines are identical,
as are the second and final lines.
ha - you have an adventurous spirit - I have to admit to melting in the rain :)
ReplyDeleteYou do the triolet well. The repetitive "Step out my dear and don’t look back" makes me want to do just that!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful "poetics of the road", Mary! Yes, makes me want to take a hike...with a friend :)
ReplyDeleteDelightful triolet!
ReplyDeleteTake to the road and let go of that load
ReplyDeleteNice one! It sounds like a song.
ReplyDeleteI agree, the best adventures are those enjoyed when we don't look back.

ReplyDeleteWe must continue to look ahead...that is where the future lies. Nothing to be served by looking back....I enjoyed your triolet. One of my favorite forms.
A lovely triolet ~ I specially like this part: a map, a compass and a friend.
ReplyDeleteYes, adventures abound when we don't look back ~
This is a perfect triolet to sing when walking - the rhythm is perfect for walking,
ReplyDeletewell turned ~
ReplyDeleteAh.. yes.. the nomads of the US
ReplyDeleteotherwise known as U.S.
are those who are brave
enough.. wild enough to
truly wanna be free.. And
that melting pot although
diluting..can truly come back..
IN Renewal of Spirit of AllthaTIS..:)
The repetition works so well here and the advice is brilliant and should be followed :-)
