Tic, tock, tic -
Hurry. Stop. Hurry.
Tyranny
of small clocks,
imposed patterns, divide us
keeping bliss on hold
This poem is done in response to a wonderful photo by Daryl Edelstein. This picture and others and the written responses they evoke can be found at IGRT (Imaginary Garden w/ Real Toads). Also, the poetic form I used is a Shadorma, which consists of 6 lines with the following syllable count: 3/5/3/3/7/5
Oh yes, they ARE little round-faced tyrants, aren't they?
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Fireblossom!
DeleteI want bliss though
ReplyDeleteIf I smash the clock will it show?
Me too! Let's try it and see!
DeleteThe brevity of your poem increases the effect of time racing by. Excellent use of shadorma.
ReplyDeleteI love shadormas--one of my favorite forms--you've managed to work in some great images here, and I love 'the tyranny of clocks' line.
ReplyDeleteThanks Hedge.
DeleteWe've all known the tyranny of clocks and empathize with your perfect shadorma.
ReplyDeleteK
Seems to be sadly common. thank you Kay.
DeleteLove your shadorma............the tyranny of the clock increases with age.
ReplyDeleteOh yes, they seem to keep going faster!
DeleteLovely form...and yes they do keep bliss on hold ~
ReplyDeleteI liked this one. I can relate.
ReplyDeleteThank you Grace and Hannah!
ReplyDeleteOh I love this. I was tickled that Shae picked almost all the photos I would have .. this one, the Tourneau shop on West 57th, has always felt very bossy .. so 'tyranny' brings all sorts of images to mind .. thank you for putting your words to my photo so perfectly
ReplyDeleteHi Daryl - Thank you so much for stopping and reading. I'm so glad that it rings true to you. :o) You made my day!
DeleteA tyrant! Perfect.
