Transforming Skies

   Wiki free images

Sun-shot, spun gold clouds
graze the morning sky above
stratospheric flocks

Grey-stained spitting sky
crackles with power and life
sending out the winds

In the Imaginary Garden we have been asked to write haiku for Transforming Fridays with Nature's Wonders.  This is National Haiku Day, so go crazy in 5, 7 and 5 syllables!

April

Lightning breaks the night
I hear the pieces crumble,
the first storm of spring

Just a quickie today.  I was helping my daughter move today, all day, in the rain.  Then tonight after a bath a ibuprophen, while racking my brains for something to write about inspiration strikes, in the form of lightening.

Cold Shoulder Trio

1.
          autumn mist softens
    the bleak forest cathedral:
    visual incense

2.        such beauty in death
    golden, crimson, and umber
    descend as fall leaves

3.      intricate, lacy
   artwork for my window pane
   thank you Mr. Frost

I'm not a haiku master, but I have girded my er..self, and these are my attempt for Grace at IGRT

do you ever miss my touch,
soft along your skin?

Done

Give it up sweetie.
I know what you’re thinking
but, your goose is cooked.

This haiku was inspired by the writing prompt at Magpie Tales and is also linked to The Poetry Pantry at Poets United.  And yes, I know they're actually ducks, but I can't resist a good (or bad) pun.

Red Sky at Night...

Red reflection bleeds
across the water as Sun
surrenders the day

I too relinquish,
give this day up to the tomes
of time past – finished
though still incomplete.
Long wavelengths shimmer, quiver
flash upon the cones

The brightest beauty
revealed for just a moment
do not turn away.

Meet Otis

Rummage sale find
one puppy - sixty dollars
How could she say no?

Well, she couldn't of course.  My daughter bought this little guy, but as she's a full time student living in an efficiency with a cat Otis, the new puppy lives at my house.  And I couldn't say no because she's wearing my genes; you might say we're cut from the same cloth.
And yes, that's my camera strap in his mouth!

Just a Little Difference

Abandoned by my muse, I decided to start small: Haiku.
And as I was playing around with words, I noticed what a big difference just one small word can make. I'll show you what I mean:

Held together by
nothing but surface tension
I struggle forward

And now:

Held together by
nothing but surface tension
we struggle forward

Quench

Softly raindrops fall
soaking me through to the skin,
each one a blessing.

Haiku Blues

Blue and purple cliffs
reach out for heaven; instead
clouds slip through their grasp

New York’s central park:
oasis surrounded by
a concrete wasteland

Life in blues, shimmers
just under the surface of
a grey existance

'In Tandem' at Alias Jinksy has this writing prompt.  Click on the title to see it for your self!  This is my first visit time participating - thanks Jinksy!

Strike

Erratic Lightening
a luminous omen of
primordial fear

This is my first submission 3 Word Wednesday whose words this week are Erratic, Lumionus and Omen.  Just for fun I tried to us as few other words as I could, thus the Haiku.  Click on the title to go there.

Random Haikus

Ok, I have resolved to write more in 2011. I woke up early, unable to sleep and wrote a poem about progress and resolutions. At this point it's still crap though, so I won't put it on here yet, but I also have some Haikus of varying quality, with my favorite first. And without further ado I give you Haiku. Ok, that was lame, but anyway, here they are:

The Bowl of my life
Sits empty on the sideboard,
A decoration

Please won't you save me
From becoming one of those
Crazy cat ladies?

Counting syllables
Haiku is both easy math
And complex writing

Potluck Poetry #8 - Halloween

Here is a charming little Haiku for Potluck Poetry just past the nick of time! Darn. Oh well...here it is anyway:

Halloween

Zombies roam the night
I have my heart in my mouth-
Oh no, must be yours!

Autumn haiku

Here is a haiku. Pretty simple, but I like the play on words.

Oh the autumn leaves
Such extravagant beauty
As the autumn leaves

I'm Baaaaack!

Ack! What ever made me think I (or my life) was interesting enough to do a blog??? Big mistake! And, I've been away for so long I forgot my password, and how to get in here!

Haiku

Adventure over;
Prodigal child, head hung low,
I make my way back
